I’ve often suffered from finding road shoes that fit my wide feet, due to how stiff carbon and/or rigid leather footwear typically is. If it doesn’t fit out of the box, it won’t ‘mould’ to your foot later on either.
Only 2 cycling shoe companies that I have tried offer shoes that fulfill my needs (and I’ve now tried 5 different brands/models, some of which were called wide but did not fit like it), so if you’re looking for a bit of extra width, the wide Lake shoes are excellent in this regard. Plus, since these are the lowest priced road model (would these be considered entry level?) that Lake offers, and since I’m not in any way a professional cyclist, I thought that I would try them out and so far I couldn’t be happier. I would definitely purchase again… in the future, I might even try a better model now that I know about their make and quality.
One last note: Lake’s shoe fit/exchange policy also seems very good- the first pair I purchased online was overall a tad too small (both width and length); exchanging them for the correct fit was a snap and took less time than expected (I never rode with them or placed cleats on them, just tried them on).
Overall, a highly recommended cycling shoe!
