MXZ21
The MXZ21 is designed to be a lighter-weight and more athletic-fitting high-performance inclement weather cycling shoe. Built on a carbon fiber and real rubber sole, it maintains incredible power transfer to the pedal, along with grip and stability on slippery ground conditions. The MXZ21 combines this high-performance sole with a windproof and highly water-resistant upper for foot comfort, while unlimited adjustable speed laces lock your feet in for fast-paced pedal stroke stability.
Fitting Tip:
For Lake winter shoes/boots, we recommend going up either 1 or 2 sizes from Lake summer shoes because the winter shoes utilize a thicker winter insole:
+1 size, if using a thinner spring/fall sock
+2 sizes, if using a thicker winter sock.
(+0 sizes, if using a thinner sock + swapping the thick winter insole with a thinner summer insole (not included) - this modification may be useful for users who need the shoe for cool/wet conditions moreso than colder conditions.)

| OUTSOLE |
Lake's Competition midsole is 100% carbon fiber and is combined with the Mountain Competition real rubber sole, which offers extended protection. The Mountain Competition rubber sole includes larger tread blocks that provide excellent grip on nearly all surfaces. This design ensures a stable and sure-footed cycling shoe suitable for wet weather and various conditions. |
| UPPER |
The upper features soft-shell fabric, water-resistant Clarino microfibre, and a wicking liner with a seam-taped membrane barrier, which helps make this cycling shoe highly water-resistant and suitable for various conditions. The upper is then treated with a DWR (Durable Water Resistant) coating that prevents the upper from absorbing water. Like all other products with water-resistant functionality, this DWR coating will need to be reapplied using a readily available DWR spray found in the marketplace. Exposure to elements such as rain and mud will eventually wash away this DWR coating, necessitating reapplication when used frequently in those conditions. |

Tip for keeping your shoes Water resistant: The uppers are treated from the factory with a DWR (Durable Water Resistant) coating that will ware away over time and use. Like many other water-resistant products, to help keep the shoe uppers from absorbing water that could migrate into the shoe, it is recommended to reapply the upper with a DWR spray which are readily available at most stores that sell outdoor products. We recommend reapplying the coating 1-2 times a year for moderate riders and for heavy use or daily commuter riders reapply at least after every 2-3 extreme wet rides. For best results follow the instructions from the DWR manufacture on how to reapply the coatings.
