Actually a wide cycling shoe, fits amazing.

solved two problems

I started doing longer gravel rides and races, and found my previous shoes were giving me significant numbness and pain to my outside two toes when I rode longer than 2 hours. This was much worse on the bike trainer than outdoors. My bike fitter suggested these shoes, and though I broke them in with a 5 hour ride (which was not recommended), I felt WAY better. Beyond the high quality workman ship, the room in the toe box of this shoe is allows for wider feet or foot swelling on big days in the saddle.

The second problem this solved for me was I wanted a shoe that would be good for both gravel riding and XC mountain bike racing. I do both, but with the price tag on gear I was looking for a shoe that could be used for both. I chose this one because it's a bit lighter than the MX 238 non-gravel counterpart, but still built with good materials and stability that it will hold up to the times you need to step off the bike to run up a feature. They also have the ability to add the 2 spikes to the toes to make them more mountain specific. I have not tried this feature yet but can see how that would be useful.
